What we were up against
A media company needed a streaming platform that could deliver video content across 5 countries with adaptive bitrate, subscription billing and content recommendations. Their existing setup was a patchwork of tools that couldn't scale beyond their home market.
What we built
We built a multi-region streaming platform on AWS with CloudFront CDN delivery, adaptive bitrate transcoding via MediaConvert, a subscription billing engine with Stripe, and a recommendation system powered by collaborative filtering. The platform handles live and on-demand content.
How we did it
Phase 1: Designed multi-region AWS architecture with CloudFront distribution.
Phase 2: Built the transcoding pipeline, content management system and video player.
Phase 3: Implemented subscription billing, user management and recommendation engine.
Phase 4: Load testing for 10K concurrent streams and multi-region deployment.
The results
Platform streams to 5 countries with 99.9% uptime, handles 10K+ concurrent viewers and processes $200K+ in monthly subscriptions. Adaptive bitrate ensures smooth playback even on 3G connections.
